A calm process for freelance projects
Freelance work goes wrong in the gaps, unclear scope, silent weeks, a big reveal at the end. The fix is boring on purpose: small milestones and working previews throughout.
The projects that stress everyone out share a shape: fuzzy scope at the start, a long quiet middle, and a dramatic reveal at the end where you find out whether it was what the client imagined. I've built my process to remove all three.
Discovery before code
A short call to understand goals, users, and constraints, turned into a clear plan and timeline. No black boxes. If we can't describe what "done" looks like, we're not ready to build.
Small milestones, working previews
I ship in visible increments with a live preview at each step. The client sees the real thing early and often, so course corrections are cheap instead of catastrophic.
Launch, then support
Deployment, monitoring, and a proper handover, and support after launch when it's needed. The goal isn't just to ship; it's to leave something the client can own and run.
None of this is clever. That's the point. Calm projects come from predictable rhythm, not heroics.
